Contemplating eating disorder recovery is frightening and knowing where to start and where to get help can be particularly overwhelming, especially in the world of Google. There is so much information out there that it can be both difficult and time-consuming to know where to start, and who to trust.
As I am a British eating disorder recovery coach with clients predominantly based in the United Kingdom I thought it would be helpful to put together a guide with a list of resources that I personally use, like, and feel align with the way I coach in the United Kingdom. This is NOT an exhaustive list. There are many more fantastic resources in the UK but for the purpose of this blog, I will keep it to a trusted handful.

Eating Disorder Recovery Resources in the UK
Eating Disorder Websites:
BEAT – the UK’s leading eating disorder charity
Beat has a huge wealth of information resources. Both for people who suffer from an eating disorder and for their families/ carers.
They also offer a wide range of support services, including a helpline, online chats, direct messaging on social media, and email support. Additionally, they run peer support groups where you can chat with people who are in a similar situation. No diagnosis is necessary for any of these.
Another UK charity that is committed to providing support to children, adolescents, adults, and their families affected by eating disorders. First Steps offers psychotherapy, counselling, workshops, and online support for anyone affected by an eating disorder.
Local support groups, online training, and workshops for carers of people who suffer from eating disorders based on the New Maudsley method. The New Maudsley method is designed to reduce stress and anxiety in carers and equip them with skills, tools, and communication techniques to improve their loved one’s self-esteem and foster openness to change.
Eating Disorder Dietitians
Working with a dietitian who specialises in eating disorders is:
Private eating disorder treatment in the UK for individuals aged 16 and above. Orri deals with all eating disorders and uses a multi-disciplinary approach. They offer day-care services in London, outpatient services, and online support. Additionally, they run a number of support groups, for eating disorder support, carers, and for binge eating sufferers.
Having recovered from Bulimia Harriet trained to be a counsellor and spent many years in the NHS working with eating disorders. She now runs a private practice where she helps people overcome eating disorders and disordered eating and in particular specialises in bulimia, binge eating disorder, and OSFED.
She also has a highly successful and popular podcast called The Eating Disorder Therapist Podcast.

Specialist Eating Disorder Dietitians
If you are looking for help with eating, meal plans, etc. It is extremely important that you work with a dietitian who is specialised in eating disorders. Here are a handful of dietitians that I really like:
Priya is an experienced award-winning eating disorder dietitian and takes a non-diet approach. She specialises in IBS which is extremely common in eating disorders. She offers private dietitian support for eating disorders and online group coaching.
Talia and her team are specialists in eating disorders and disordered eating and offer individual consultation, group meal support, rule rule-breaker programmes and have an extraordinary source of education resources and information on their website.
Toni is a UK-registered dietitian. She takes a non-diet and weight-inclusive approach to binge eating disorder and works 1:1 to help people overcome years of dieting and heal their relationship with food.
Renee is a leading sports dietitian specialising in Eating Disorders, REDs, and the Female Athlete and is one of the leading voices in the UK for all things eating disorders, REDs, hormonal health, and athlete health in sport.
Eating Disorder Podcasts
Two of my favourite podcasts from the UK that support eating disorder recovery:
Real Health Radio by Seven Health
Chris is a nutritionist and coach who helps people recover from eating disorders. Chris was my coach and I recovered with him. He talks about recovery as well as having a guest interview.
The Full of Beans Podcast
Hannah is on a mission to both increase awareness of eating disorders and end the stigma around them. She interviews people with lived experience, clinicians, researchers, and charities to get a full perspective of eating disorders.
